Community Partnerships

Student Bridges Community Partners
Student Bridges aims to create community partnerships based on mutual respect, reciprocity, and sustainability in their practices. Student Bridges has a variety of partnerships focusing on college awareness and preparation initiatives, these partnerships include:
• Peck-Lawrence Full Service Community School with Grades 6-8 (Holyoke, MA)
o “The Peck-Lawrence FSCS is a school that aims to cultivate thoughtful and strategic partnerships in order to support the academic and non-academic aspirations and needs of the students and families it serves.” Student Bridges SRVC LRNG 293 & 393 students serve as Tutor Mentors in the classroom from Monday-Thursday.
• CHOICES run by Holyoke Community College (Holyoke, MA)
o “CHOICES is an on-site after-school program for middle school students at Peck. CHOICES enrolls over 150 students a year in enrichment clubs supported by a structured Homework Time. The program runs Monday through Thursday from dismissal until 5:50pm.  There is an academic support period where students can receive homework help from tutors and mentors, as well as a period of “enrichment” where students choose to participate in a range of clubs including sports, arts, leadership development and college preparation.” Student Bridges SRVC LRNG 293 & 393 students serve this site as Tutor Mentors from Monday-Thursday.
• UMASS Amherst Upward Bound partnered with Commerce High School (Springfield, MA)
o “The Upward Bound Program is a year-round, federally sponsored, educational program serving high school students from the High School of Commerce. Students are eligible to participate in this program if they are from families in which neither parent has a bachelor’s degree and/or if they qualify as low-income. The goal of the Upward Bound Program is to increase the rate at which participants successfully complete high school and enroll in and graduate from college.” Student Bridges SRVC LRNG 293 & 393 students serve as Tutor Mentors on Mondays/Wednesdays in Upward Bound’s Afterschool programming.
