Student Bridges is a student-initiated outreach program that connects UMass students with local community-based organizations and schools through tutoring-mentoring partnerships, college awareness activities, and policy advocacy. The program has primarily partnered with schools and programs in the Holyoke-Springfield area.

Undergraduate Programmatic Coordinator

This position provides overall administrative support for the Student Bridges agency in accord with directives from the Board. Specifically, the position works closely with the Graduate Coordinator and/or Director to manage the overall Student Bridges budget, supervise and mentor site coordinators and interns, chair staff and advisory board meetings, coordinate Student Bridges events and projects, and support the program’s overall evaluation and sustainability and staff’s leadership development.

Site Coordinator

The Site-Class Liaison position supports the team of Student Bridges Site Coordinators and Course Instructors to support student tutor mentors working at designated community partner sites in either Springfield or Holyoke. This support involves co-leading trainings for tutor mentors and site coordinators, facilitating communication between class and site to ensure alignment of tutor mentor’s development at site and in class. This position additionally supports the Graduate and Undergraduate Programmatic Coordinators to develop and implement trainings and related activities for staff, in addition to supporting the Community Outreach and College Awareness team for tours and events. 7 Openings

COCA Tours Coordinator

This position works closely with Student Bridges staff, campus offices, student groups, and community organizations to plan and coordinate college positive campus tours and events for middle, high school and transfer students from our community partners. Working closely with the COCA Events Coordinator this position assists in planning and coordinating our bi-annual Hip Hop Evolution, Springfield Bound, and Holyoke Bound events. In addition, this position supervises and mentors any interns or volunteers working on the events listed above.

Policy Advocacy

The position works closely with the Programmatic Coordinators and/or Director to develop and lead campaigns related to the agency’s mission. Retention Coordinator

This position collaborates with, and builds relationships between, the agency, student organizations and various campus offices and resources to advocate for and provide greater support for the continued academic and social success of underrepresented students currently attending the University. This position works closely with other Student Bridges staff to further expand the program’s support for retaining first generation students, ALANA students, transfer students, non-traditional students, and other underrepresented students. 2 Openings

Public Relations

The position provides the opportunity to coordinate outreach and promotional efforts for the Student Bridges Program.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; writing press releases to promote events on campus and in local communities, attending and providing thorough write-ups on Student Bridges sponsored events, working collaboratively with Student Bridges senior staff members to coordinate promotion for the program.

Office Manager

This position provides overall administrative support for the Student Bridges agency. Specifically, the position works closely with the Undergraduate Program Coordinator (UPC), Graduate Program Coordinator (GPC), Accountant, and/or Faculty Advisor to maintain the office, develop and organize staff office hours, support day-to-day management of Student Bridges purchasing and paperwork, support logistics for Student Bridges operations, events and projects, and devise systems to support program organization and sustainability.

Web Manager

The position provides the opportunity to develop and maintain the website for the Student Bridges Program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; regularly updating the website to reflect to the public the latest events, activities, and news about Student Bridges. The webmaster is also responsible for signup forms for events and our class on the website and maintaining links to our Facebook, Twitter, and other Social Networking sites. The webmaster is responsible for the general maintenance and upkeep of the website.
